We really enjoy the Australian content over at Desire To Inspire– especially Jo’s local real estate stalking. The other day she drew our attention to the above bathroom vanity and we’re been thinking about it ever since.
As Jo pointed out it would be really simple to create this look for yourself. All you need is an art deco bedroom dresser [we saw one at a local op shop earlier today for AU$35], install your plumbing through the unit and ta-da! A beautiful, cheap bathroom vanity. We also like the open minded thinking in using a piece of bedroom furniture in the bathroom. The only downfall of this great plan is that not everyone has enough space in their bathroom for a vanity the size of a dresser. For a smaller space we think this ikea hack is amazing.
Have you repurposed any furniture in your house to this kind of extreme?

Love the tile here and the mirror is awesome. I think it (and the light fixtures) are hung way too high, but it does have a lot of impact.
However, this looks like a bathroom in an upscale bar to me, rather than someone's home.
It's nice, but I like having counter space at the same level as the sink. When I get ready in the mornings I like to have a place to set my blow dryer and makeup so this wouldn't work so great for me.
I like the concept. I may copy that photo into my style folder for future reference, although I agree with Kathryn that the photo appears more suited to a bar or restaurant. I just can't imagine all that red tile in a home bathroom. Powder room, maybe..
I think it's perfect for a guest bathroom - it's visually stunning.
Nice, but I don't think I could live with that. I agree with the other posters that it is more suited for a restaurant/bar bathroom.
Oh how I wish I had tile like that in my home...
