It may look like something that can beam you up, but step inside the G-Pod and you'll be transported to a cozy space designed for living or entertaining at home.
Produced by Farmers Cottage Lamps in Birmingham, England, the G-Pod debuted in Britain last year. By the end of May 2012, these prefab spheres will be carried by UK-based Leisure Shelters and Redondo Beach-based Mars Lab.
G-Pods come in four different models. Starting at $14,000, the Lounger and Seater models are 7.5 feet in diameter and rotate so that the entrance can shift to shield against sun or wind. The waterproof interiors include furniture that can fold flat into a full circle and be covered with cushions to form a bed.
At 10 feet in diameter and a starting price of $30,000, the Diner and Summer House models are stationary structures that can be wired for electricity and solar power. They come in custom colors and can hold up to 14 people for a party in your pod.
All G-Pods are made of laminated pine with UV-protected tinted windows. To see these petite prefabs in action, check them out at Dwell on Design from June 22 to June 24, 2012, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

why not? i love it.
I like these alot. Would like to see a closer image of the inside of that middle one in the last picture.
If I had the space I would certainly go for one of these but would try and put plumbing to use as a guest house if possible. Cool idea.
I don't understand the comments above with the links to to YOUTUBE. Is it solely because of the pods in this series?
So cool, so expensive, so uncomfortable methinks.
They might be best suited to places with cool to moderate summers. Put one of those in a sunny, hot climate and you'd roast in it.
British pods automatically think of this:
