We know we're not the only ones who get frustrated because we can so easily visualize something we're looking for, but just can't find it. Well, Etsy's brought back their Alchemy feature, which may solve some of these frustrations. Buyers can post requests for custom handmade items, and then sellers bid on the opportunity to make the goods. For instance, a New York buyer wants eight simple, small, metal shelves as shown in this diagram.
Today we also saw the following requests: an outdoor rug, a long recipe box, a "household stuff organizer" for warranties and receipts, a painting of a particular building... and the list goes on for 40-odd pages.
The wheels in our heads are already turning around and around with all the possibilities.
Alchemy is here.

I'm on Etsy and have participated in Alchemy (as a creator, not a buyer). So far so good. I'd have to say the key is to make sure all the details are laid out clearly before you begin, and all should go well.
what exactly is Etsy? I hear a lot about it but am unfamiliar.
its a lot like ebay in the sence that tyou have "stores" and sellers, but it is reserved for "all thing hand made" art, cloths trinkits you name it! thier made or created by those who are selling it! hope thats helpful art
cool.
Thanks E.M.H.
This has my mind working now.
I'd imagine there could be some pretty complex stuff then. Those shelves for instance look like they'd have to be made in a metal shop.
Oh, I just used this feature today seeking some felted wool decorative balls in specific colorways. I've already gotten two bids...exciting!
