What I Love About My Small Home:
Most of all, I love that I was able to design and build this tiny house myself, to meet my exact needs. I love that it symbolizes the reclaiming of the home ownership process and brings the structure of the home back to human scale. I love that it was affordable and keeps me rent and debt free. I love the light streaming in from 10 windows and an all glass door. I love the beauty and comfort of wood and other sustainably sourced materials.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
Every inch counts. Every little space needs to be considered and reconsidered to maximize it's functional capacity. To prevent clutter, build in plenty of flexible storage solutions, even with the inevitable, massive downsizing of possessions that is required to live in such a small space. And most of all, if living in your tiny space with a partner, plan carefully how you'll share the space, and how you can plan to give each other the alone time needed retain some privacy and strong sense of self.
