- What I Love About My Small Home:
- Everything! I love the light -- I look out onto lovely gardens and roof decks (of which I am envious), the location -- I am a half block from Prospect Park in central Park Slope, and the details -- the apartment just has so much character.
I really wanted a space that felt like a home, that felt lived-in, and comfortable. I walked into this apartment and I knew it would be awesome. It has the feel of a little Parisian garret apartment with high ceilings, white walls, and lots of little quirks.
- Biggest Challenge of Living in a Small Space
- The challenge for me was creating separate spaces, so I could go to bed at night and not be able to see the living room or the kitchen. I also tried to be ship-like about it. My sofa becomes a twin bed, my table doubles in size -- I've flipped it longwise and had an eight person dinner party -- and my bookshelf also operates as a night table. I actually had a lot of fun designing it. Working with a small space makes you a lot more consicous about what you bring into it, and so I find I'm really only surrounded by objects that I love.

The sink with the cabinets around it are so cute - and definitely ship-like!
Houses like this make me long for a smaller neat and tidy abode. Well done!
This is incredible! I'd love to see it in real life, with the views and high ceilings. And that map! ~ is that from a North Pole perspective or something?
Back in my corporate (death-by-cubicle) days, I used to hang a world map outside my cubicle. It was amazing. People looking at it would start up REAL conversations for a change, rather than just what was on TV last night.
I love the world map! Where did you get it? I'm looking for one.
I really don't feel like the pictures give a very good sense of how the space is laid out/utilized.
I do like the long low bookshelf between the bed and window. Great use of space without blocking the windows.
Beautiful sunlight and that map is incredible. Very nice screen too.
I absolutely *love* the use of the vibrant map above the midcentury chest of drawers! You've done a fantastic job decorating your little space -- gives me a lot of inspiration! :-)
Is there a kitty or so hiding on the left side of your bed..under the pretty comforter? I love the feel of your bedroom..light and airy...!
I really love your home. It has a happy yet peaceful feeling to it.
Thanks all! The map is from Trailer Park, in Park Slope on 6th Ave. and Sterling. They have a lot of cool maps/science displays along with some great furniture. Mine is a map of Asia, with Europe off to the top right.
Where did you get that bedding? So beautiful.
oooh I could pinterest this entry like crazy! This means i like it!
You've done a great job with very limited space. Your choice of colors keep everything open and fresh looking. Congratulations on a job well done!!!
@annie-o- I cannot tell you how much I loved your comment! Imagine a world where REAL conversations take place, not what happened on Real Housewives! This is such a fun space, very well done!
Loved the restrained use of blue-- splashes, really.
Did I miss the bathrom and kitchen? I wish there would have been a picture of both
I love your bedding - would love to know where it's from! And your bookshelves deside your dining table?
