Name: Alexis
Location: Pacific Heights — San Francisco, California
After moving from my two bedroom condo in the Florida swamp lands to my tiny little space on top of a hill in San Francisco I was forced to make some hefty decor decisions. It was then that I decided to divorce myself from my white & beige past and create a happy energetic space exploding with color to represent my new life in the Bay Area!
Having such a small apartment makes every piece that I bring into it that much more special. In combination, my flea market finds, carefully selected designer pieces and accessories passed down through my family all seem to flow together perfectly; each getting their fair share of attention.
If asked to describe my studio, I would say that it is youthful, vibrant, a bit quirky, but always thoughtful. Basically...it makes me smile every time I walk through the door!
Hope you enjoy my pictures as much as I love living here!
Thanks, Alexis!

Sheex Bedding
Except for a green chair, I don't see any color?
The color is in the accessories. I guess she literally stopped using a lot of beige but embraced white to give more pop to her colorful accents. In any case, nice job.
Nice. Alexis loves letters ;-)
She had white walls, a white table and a white bed. A few pieces of non-white art don't make the place "explode with color". It is a pretty home, I'm just not getting why its a divorce from beige/white.
Huh, maybe divorced from beige but rebounding with white?
That is a super cute apartment, and I like the little hits of bold color. I'm guessing you couldn't paint the walls?
However, I wouldn't say you've divorced from your white & beige past, more like seperated and living apart.
I'm going to say that the fault isn't with Alexis' taste or decorating style, but more on the title of the entry. Had this been called, "Alexis' Fresh Clean White Space" there would be less talk about what colour it is, and more talk about how pretty her house is.
LOL@bstan - it wouldn't be nearly as bad if she had one of those "Keep Calm and Carrion" versions. gets me everytime.
Cute place!
I love the little bar cart in the corner of the first photo. I've been seeing those a lot lately, and it makes me wish I had the room in my place for one!
I love the jolts of color, the lush, comfy bed, and the bar cart. I'm thinking that I must have a bar cart too - it feels so 007.
gee. people are tired of the "keep calm"? i didn't know! what a unique commentary to make!
i'm less annoyed with seeing the poster over and over, and more annoyed with hearing people complain about it over and over.
cute apartment- and i, like jessica, love the bar cart. (another staple in interior design sites lately. anyone want to complain about that, too?)
I don't get it.
If I visited this house and someone asked me what it looked like the last thing I'd say was "it was exploding with color!!" Last. Thing.
With that said, I think the house is adorbs and I really *love* the bed!!
I have to respectfully disagree with quirkyliz. This place is great and Alexis has terrific style but readers can't pretend the big Keep Calm sign isn't there.
I care less about most of the complaints so far and way more about where that table is from!! I know I've seen it before, but it's so perfect for my place.
Anyone know where it's from or where similar models can be found?
Note: I am referring to the white kitchen table in case it wasn't obvious! :)
where did you get that San Francisco Word art poster??
To me it looks like Alexis divorced beige and married ceiling white.
I think it's a sweet studio, but I would infuse a bit more color into the bedroom. Maybe some additional pillows or shams with a pattern and a throw?
It's very hard for most people to break out of the beige/white habit when it's jammed down our throats by the main furniture/decorating outlets. It's even more difficult to get away from white walls in an apt. setting. Even if you can paint, is it really worth the aggravation if you're only going to stay in the apartment a year or so?
Looking good so far!
This is a very pretty apartment, and Alexis should be very proud of it. ...but as others have stated, it's really white.
I don't mean for this to attack Alexis, who obviously has very nice taste, but I feel like this is a reoccurring theme in house tours. I click "So-and-so's Colorful _____" and wonder how a white room where someone got a couple pieces of art or even just a couple of throw pillows got that title. Even when, like this one, it's a well polished place.
Keeping your books spine up like that is terrible for them.
Maybe it's time for everyone to agree that AT entry titles are always terrible and start judging apartments/houses on how they actually look?
Like this one. It's charming and has a lot of character. I used to have bold colored walls in my house but I grew tired of them and I'm now tempted to go this way: white/neutral walls and colorful accents. You don't need to re-paint a room if you need a quick change!
(Also, I may want a Keep Calm poster now just to drive people off the deep end.)
Uhmmmm....divorce huh? You need a better lawyer!
I really like the clean, organized feel of this place - there's just enough color to make it feel lively and welcoming.
I also like the words on the wall ("Fear" and "Less"), as well as the "Keep Calm" poster. Both seem to be saying the same thing, so I assume these particular words inspire Alexis. Among other things, that's exactly what our homes should do.
After seeing the Keep Calm poster on AT for several years, I finally bought one this past weekend. It doesn't bother me a bit that it's no longer trendy since I didn't buy it for that reason.
Nicely done, Alexis.
Umm... what? This is a joke, right?
people sure are opinionated and judgemental. sorry Alexis! i think your place is great and i love the color you have added! definitely different than beige!
I like the "Keep Calm Harry is Still Single" version of the poster cracks me up every time. I can't wait to see that one in an an Apartment Tour. It is just a matter of time!

Super pretty. ^_^
Super cute, Alexis! Lots of little details that make this place a perfect little pad.
@Jon Erick, The San Francisco word poster is from Ork Posters, you can find lots of other cities. I've given these for gifts a few times, they go over well!
Looks beige to me. Ecru?
username26- I bought one of those neighborhood posters over a year ago - mostly because it showed my little suburb of Los Angeles (Westchester) in it!
Also, as the trendsetter that I am (hee hee), I've had a red metal 'bar' cart for over 14 years.
@SBGBlogs asked: "Anyone know where it's from or where similar models can be found?"
That's called a Tulip Table - you usually see it with the matching chairs - designed by Eero Saarinen in 1955/56 for the Knoll Company.
We had an original when I was a kid so I am partial to it. :-) Here's the link to show the chairs that he designed for this table: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_chair)
You can still buy them from Knoll, and find knock offs online too.
I really like this place, it's feels calm and curated, yet lived in. Where did you get that raffia-looking sidetable/pouf next to the green chair? Love it!
And for the record, I do agree that the poorly-fit name of this post definitely distracts from focusing on how stylish the place really is!
This place looks nice, but I was wondering whether this is the "before" version? Maybe she inadvertently didn't post the colorful apartment?
