- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love the 1940s vintage windows. I painted all our interior window trim in Benjamin Moore's Nightfall- a wonderful charcoal color that reads black. I think it really makes them stand out! I also love our ginormous elk antlers above the bed. They are from Gunnison, CO, where my family has been vacationing for generations. Some people may not like their colossal size but I think they definitely make a statement!
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- I think the absolute most important thing is to bring in elements that are YOU! I love nature. So, I try to incorporate that into my decor as much as possible. It reminds me of the bigger picture in life. I also have some OCD tendencies so it's not hard for me to keep our bedroom tidy and organized. Now the closet is not always in the best shape but I just shut that door and pretend it is! ;)
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- I would say our bedroom is definitely for relaxation and peace. We purposely did not put a TV or computer in the room. It's a place to go rest, read, write, or listen to music. I try to keep it clean and bright so it is a calm and welcoming space for us to retreat. We enjoy a small private courtyard right outside our room. With twin 5yr old boys and another 5yr old boy on the way (through adoption) we need a retreat!!

Love the yellow door!
I gotta be honest, I'll never understand the "empty frame" trend. But that's a minor detail in an otherwise gorgeous room - it's young and fresh, architectural at times but mostly laid-back. I'm also completely impressed by the fact that you have three large pieces of furniture in there (including the bed) and you still manage to keep the light, airy feeling alive. Great job.
I'd love to know how the antlers were painted/mounted. Was this a DIY?
Really like the light fixture and the bedding. I'm curious about how the antlers are mounted as well????
To much stuff
It's a fun room, but my favorite detail is that dark wall with the pop of color door. Yum!
Nice bedroom. I also like the yellow door a lot. But those are very strange and small elk antlers. It is weird that they have no tines on the one side and are flat against the wall.
Adore the first picture. Brilliant yellow door, charcoal wall and white antlers. Love it!
A lot of random stuff trying to be trendy is not working, IMO. The light fixture, the weird strip of framed pictures. Proportion is way off, to my taste. There's so much good stuff here with pattern and color I think the room could be sensational with a little editing.
The antlers against the dark wall is striking, I LOVE it. I feel like the super busy bedding is taking away from the effect though.
Hahaha too much stuff. I liked that simple post. Mad respect for others opinions of course!!!
SNLY: The antlers are probably like a death in bed waiting to happen...not really but definitely a headache if they fell. They are pretty secure tho. Since they I bought then cheap up in Gunnison they were not yet mounted to anything. I didn't want to hassle with that so we just used L-shaped brackets. Luckily the antlers did already have a hole drilled in the middle of skull. :)
Light fixture I just put together from World Market's three-arm hard wire kit. I think it was about $25 and I used lamp shades I already had.
Thanks guys!!
Incredibly creative and one of a kind. Love your bedspread and that yellow door!
had to like it because you put yellow, grey, and white together - those are my wedding colors :)
