Alison's Before Photos: A Newly-Shared Room for Ralph and Ivy

Liveblogging the Style Cure

It didn't take too long to decide on a room for the Style Cure today, I knew all along. Ralph and Ivy's room has been a weird style mish-mash ever since they moved into a shared room. Here are my before photos, now all I'm waiting for is the rest of this cure...and your advice!

Here is Ralph's bed along one wall, to the right of the window. That pile of books on the dresser is living there since a bookshelf fell apart in our living room. They need a new home. Also, I am considering putting up wall shelves above the dresser (wherever the dresser ends up). What do you think? All the walls look so blank and miserable.

Here's the opposite side of the room, Ivy's crib. I have always hated that crib, I'm not really into sleigh cribs, but it was free. I am considering getting rid of the wall decals, even though we can't paint (renting), or at least swapping them for something new, as I would really love to "grow up" this room, even a tiny bit.

AHHH. The bane of my existence - the pink kitchen. It's solid wood, and was only $15 at the Salvation Army. But the pink is so awful! And there is so much of it. It really needs to be changed, but I have so little time. Do I repaint? Strip the paint? How?

I also really want to move the kitchen out of this corner. Those IKEA spice rack/bookshelves are remnants of a long-gone reading corner I would love to revive. Can it happen? But where would the kitchen go? Before anyone says "get rid of the kitchen" I need to say, the kids really love this kitchen.

Last but not least, the window. This photo gives you a good sense of all the "stuff" that seems to fill up the space - in particular, big toys like the parking garage, keyboard, trucks. Also, this window really needs curtains. This month, we are definitely getting curtains.

So, Curers, what advice have you got for me? What would you keep out of this room? What would definitely be going, if it were up to you? And did anyone else out there choose a kids' room to cure this month? I would especially love to hear from you and see your before pics! Don't forget to link to them in the comments below!
