"It's not comfortable." "It's famous Dad, it's called the Womb Chair." "Oh... wait... am I sitting in it upside down?" Welcome back to the great Dad and Daughter Style Cure for 2014. This week, I went on a treasure hunting expedition with my style-free-zone Dad, in an attempt to get some kind of idea as to how he would like to decorate what he is now referring to as his "Man Cave," the bedroom he will be kicked into by my mother if he snores too much.
Mostly joking about various things, he came across a couple of items that he was actually, truly-ruly interested in.
First, this lamp. "It's big. It looks cool. I like how it has shapes. I like geometric shapes."
Next, this bedspread. "I like grey. I am definitely not a "blue" guy. And I like that it isn't plain, but has shapes."
He was really taken by all the abstract art/print offerings we came across. Particularly this one, that was copper, brown, grey and white.
And he didn't pooh-pooh every design work from the 20th Century. In fact, he was quite enamoured by this replica of Front Design's Horse Lamp (but was a little disappointed to learn that its $4,000 price tag was outside our $100 budget).
So... we didn't come close to actually choosing anything that might go in the room, but the good news is, I have at least got a better idea what Dad would like in the room, namely:
- a light fitting for the ceiling
- a new duvet cover, possibly grey
- a comfy chair for reading (no Wombs)
- a reading lamp, which he is aware will probably not be a horse.
