All That Glitters is Glitter Pop Art

My 9-year old daughter has been begging for some cool updates in her room, and I've been a little resistant for fear of an onslaught of purple and sparkles and faux fuzzy things. How do I incorporate all the glitter she wants while keeping the design chic and fresh? I found the answer this week in Cortney and Bob's disco homage real estate staging party. Glitter art.

The Novos introduced viewers this week to artist Camomile Hixon, who creates beautiful, graphic paintings in glitter. Who knew that glitter art cold be so chic, so pop, so hardcore? The ironic part is that I should've known, because I, too, was a full time glitter artist from age 4 to 5. Yes, I'm kicking myself for giving it up.

And here's another epiphany Camomile Hixon shot me on a big glittery lightening bolt. It works for boys, too! You may have thought, like I did, that glitter is strictly a girly medium. But look at these pieces. They're part Batman fight sequence and part World War flying ace. See how they bring out the sparkle in Bob's eyes?

Be sure to have a look at Camomile Hixon's website to see more of her glittery work (the medals are my favorite!), and be sure to watch Bob and Cortney next week for the last episode of the season!
