Sounds almost impossible, like the riddle black and white and red all over, right? Well, I recently noticed that I was attracted to rooms that have a rustic touch but are otherwise all white. Turns out a little something rustic is a perfect complement to stark white. Take a look to see what I mean:
The kitchen above has elements that are as quaint as an old farmhouse yet as sleek as a penthouse. The bathroom has gorgeous white fixtures that are offset against a no-nonsense concrete block wall. Yet another kitchen combines all white with an old wooden island.
The combo works, I think, because it takes the appeal of all white and makes it livable by allowing for some imperfection. What do you think?

Very nice, but a little bit impersonal. I have a feeling almost all houses look like this right now.
I know I shouldnt complain as I too have a house full of white, but still... they are all the same, aren't they?
This looks snowy, deserted, almost dreamlike, but people in everyday acitivities with real life, colorful objects probably would make the the spaces more homey.
I live in Wisconsin which is all white about 5 months of the year. A room or rooms like this would kill me. I crave color.
Evergirl, I want to hang out with your friends. :) No one I know has a house that looks like this. Heck, I LOVE this look and my own house doesn't look like this. The bathroom is so beautiful it brings a tear to my eye. :)
Pretty, but sterile. Pops of color would really warm things up.
Masaicwench, I agree. In Northern VT, I would cry if every room I walked into was white. It's bad enough my hunny needs our bedroom to be white. I prefer my kids' rooms... alive with color.
these look very nice but I can't imagine not being able to display colorful pottery my aunt made, or paintings by my father, or any other personal object that isn't white or gray.
I love it and I am currently in the process of creating a home like these, however I do agree about childrens' rooms, my daughter loves pink and pastels and the boys are all blues and browns.
Maybe it's just me, but I see pops of colour, the green from outside reflected in the kitchen mirror, the purple flower in the bathroom and the green plants in the last one :)
Fantastic
God I love this. This is my dream.
I have always wanted a "shades" of white house.... someday, when I buy my dream beach house.....
Absolutely gorgeous. the antiques and worn wood add a lot of warmth to the space...and the natural light coming from what I assume are pretty big windows, also takes the edge off the stark white paint colour. Magnifique!
this look is clean and pretty. it reminds me of the Dashwood's cottage in the movie 'Sense and Sensibility'.
I love this room...though I usually am a color person I think the all white is very peaceful. This blog has really beatiful all-white and rusgtic rooms for inspiration.
