Yesterday, we talked of the dangers of going overboard with the brown tones...today, it's going overboard with the all-white. Turns out, if your room is starting to look like an Apple retail store (coughGregorycough), you can try this solution: paint an accent wall a bright color, and match sparingly throughout. In this case, the lemon yellow of the wall, Eames chair, coffee cups, desk lamp, and vase all match perfectly (or close to).

well, i like the accent wall idea fine, but i find the rest of this space just atrocious to look at. very "design school" tossed off like a careless assignment, with a visually aversive result.
like the bananas!
banabas are good!
What a great room!
Interesting that I keep seeing examples of my house the last couple days.
In my living room I decided I wanted a red wall, so instead of just having a red wall for no reason, I have all red black and white accessories spread around the room. Now I feel bored with it and want to add more colors, but then I'll be back to my just a red wall problem.
How do folks with white upholstery manage to keep it clean?
The place where I currently live at, has rooms of orange, blue, pink, green, yellow. I am dying to go back to all white and this reminds me why.
In terms of day-to-day living, I think white is easier to pull off with an accent color alongside, but I still think there is something beautifully pristine and serene about a completely all-white room.
i have white slipcovered sofas and chairs - and they're really easy to keep clean - just toss them in the wash. i just had a party this weekend and i saw some stains on a chair arm - and i've already washed it - easy peasy. when i think about washing my slipcovers i wonder about all the fabric sofas out there that haven't been washed - ever. its like carpet you sit on. everyday. i guess i'm saying i prefer slipcovers. :)
I wish I knew where the couch came from. . .
anyone know where that floor lamp is from?
