We've been writing a lot about finding good books to share with children lately and our timing is good as the Association for Library Service to Children unveiled the 2011 winners of their big awards this week.

The top prize for picture books, The Caldecott Medal, was awarded to "A Sick Day for Amos McGee" illustrated by Erin E. Stead, written by Philip C. Stead and the Newbery Medal for children's literature went to "Moon Over Manifest," written by Clare Vanderpool.

Click here for the full list of honor books and the winners of all the ALSC awards including the Belpre, the Geisel and more.
