Rusty reds and oranges; deep, rich browns; golden yellows. These are the colors we associate with fall, and I'll never tire of them. But it's refreshing to conceive of a new autumnal palette, one whose dusty, muted colors evoke the spirit of the season just as well. Floral designer Sarah Ryhanen offers such a palette in this stunning arrangement...

Sarah's floral creations for Saipua never fail to take my breath away. Inspired by the little echeveria succulents you see off to the left of the flowers, she put together this palette for fall, drawing from lavenders, pale greens, deep purples, and muted oranges, and calling it an "alternative autumnal palette." I love the idea of re-thinking the traditional fall colors, but maintaining the spirit of simultaneous decadence and abundance that characterizes the season.
