With a third birthday party approaching, Stephanie turned to her daughter Alyssa's favorite things for inspiration. Lyssie's love for sorting things by color and the rainbow at the end of The Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight provided the inspiration for a vivid celebration with lots of colorful DIY details.
Stephanie used plenty of white to avoid an over-the-top color scheme. Since she doesn't own a sewing machine, Stephanie improvised a handmade table skirt using plastic tablecloths that she cut into strips, ruffled using twine, then hot glued to a base tablecloth. The dot garland was made with colored paper circles, fishing line and hot glue.
The party hats, banner and favor tags were all made by Stephanie, who runs PaperCuts. Stephanie had a baker make the rainbow cake and cover it in plain white fondant, which she decorated herself with candy dots. Outside there was plenty of kid-sized furniture for lounging, stations for colorful sand art and glitter tattoos, and plenty of balloons staked into the lawn with golf tees. Alyssa and her friends had a fantastic time, and her mom managed to pull all of this off while extremely pregnant; a few weeks later Alyssa got a little brother named AJ. Happy birthday to Alyssa and AJ!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Such a cute idea and Alyssa looks thrilled so I would say time well spent!

Could that little girl be any cuter?!
THE CAKE IS AMAZING!!! I'm going to do this. :)
OMG! Seriously, cutest party for an ADORABLE little girl! Nawww!
She is too cute.
I never comment on these types of posts but MAN that girl is cute.
That beaming little face just made my day!
Awesome little lady! Great ideas I plan to steal for my next birthday. Where did the little candy dispensers come from?
Absolutely adorable. Alyssa AND her party. I would have flipped had that tablecloth appeared at one of my birthdays.
Fun party, and such a beautiful little girl!
I know everyone's said it, but what a cutie pie!
I'm sorry, but that first picture is clearly in breach of several international cuteness limitation treaties.
Oh and I love the cake too :)
What a little angel! And you rocked that table cloth!
What an adorable girl! What a loving and talented Mommy! Congratulations to this family for the new baby boy blessing! This party is truly beautiful, colorful, clever & efficient! Please tell me that you kept the adorable tablecloth!. The candy dispensers/gumball machines are genius ... simple (just 1 thing vs. multiple items to fill goody bags!) and something that Alyssa's friends will probably enjoy long after the party. Those would be great for tweens & teens, too!
