"Tuwallu", 2008, Oil and acrylic on canvas, 52.5 x 60 inches

Stumbling around the internet last night looking for film stills of interiors, we came across the art of Minnesota based Amanda Smith and were instantly hooked. Amanda's paintings, according to the statement on her website, take various scenes from films and composite them on top of each other, creating new and beautiful spaces. More photos after the jump...

"Marsh", 2007, Oil and acrylic on canvas, 60 x 74 inches

Somewhat reminiscent of Rosson Crow's aging and over-the-top interiors, Amanda Smith's paintings head in a different direction, combining stills from both interiors and exteriors, evolving into previously unseen but still familiar places.

Amanda is reachable via her website, and at amanda@amandasmithart.com
