What I Love About My Small Home:
Our home is a bohemian haven, a respite from the energy that courses through the city of Los Angeles. It is an inspiring space filled with items that tell the story of who we are and where we have been. Looking around our apartment brings to mind sweet memories of summer road trips, Sunday morning flea market excursions, and quiet walks through our neighborhood.

Creating our space has been a labor of love. We have done everything from building custom furniture to wiring lamps and painting graphic murals or pops of color on the walls. Decorating on a budget is a practice in patience and having the flexibility of mind to see that which the universe puts in front of you. Most of our possessions are thrift finds, curb scores, and items passed along from friends.

We especially love our sun dappled patio. It provides a quiet retreat and accommodates our passion for growing plants. Our cat enjoys many an afternoon curled up on the chair.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
[Texture] Decorate with pieces composed of a variety of materials. Aged wood, patterned textiles, metals and plants all add to the visual interest of a space. We like to incorporate natural elements such as collections of rocks and shells or dried flowers that lend a tactile quality to any room.

[Form, Function, and Flow] Thoughtfully curate your space down to the small details. Select items that are not only visually appealing, but have utility as well. Furniture accommodates items for storage and display. Everything has a designated place. Plan the layout of a room to allow for easy movement.

[Let it Go] I find it hard to get rid of things because of my ever so sentimental heart. Surround yourself with the things you truly love and have personal meaning to you. Consider the utility of an item and pass it along if someone else could put it to better use. It feels great to shed yourself of excess possessions and makes living in a small space more comfortable.
