- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love the simplicity and change from my more "decorated" apartment, it's very calming and relaxing. I'm especially in love with the paint color - the perfect neutral gray in a shade just this side of white. I tried to stay within a black, gray, white and wood/natural palette, with color coming from my collection of books.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- Choose a simple palette to start with, but also don't be afraid to go outside those parameters. Take your time, let the room evolve based on how you use it. Make sure that what you see when you open your eyes in the morning makes you happy.
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- My computer and books are located in my bedroom, which means I have to be diligent in managing any clutter, since I can't close the door on my "office". When I'm not using it, it's important that my desk fades into the rest of the room.

This one deserves to win on reading taste alone. (I've got some stories in a few of those McSweeney's :) )
Lovely. What's the wall color?
Absolutely love the dishes on the bureau to hold jewelry! I've been looking for vintage pieces just like that for bracelets and rings. I'm also a big fan of the color palette - you've done "happy neutral" to perfection.
My favorite so far! Would love to see the rest of the place.
Thanks everyone! The wall color is "Gray Beard" by Olympic paints - it's the best. I found the milk glass dishes at thrifts shops. Ryan - I'll have to find your stories now!
Refreshing!
Winner!
I love the combination of the dresser with the small tables -- it's a nice combination of white and wood (including having the wood piece on the white dresser and then the white piece on the wood dresser). It works really well!
Beautiful! I used to live in JP and love these older apartments./ houses. You did a great job complementing the vintage character of the place while making it cheery and fresh.
Wooo..love that iron bed! it always gives the room so much character and relaxing vive.
JP represent!
This is so charming!
Charming it is. I have smaller white bowl to hold my watch. Love it.
Your bedrrom makes me feel serene and happy... it is very calming and pretty. Well done, Amanda!
I love this space. White walls and that bed is perfection.
i feel like making a cup of tea and lounging on the bed with magazines and that sweet cat. you've created a very calm atmosphere.
Love it!!
This is a really lovely bedroom in every sense of the word: color, decor, mood. I especially like the vintage iron bedframe. Very nice, Amanda!
I second all of the above. Very elegant and serene space--the colors harmonize perfectly, and I love the small hints of pink, red, and green from the quilt. (I happen to have a very similar palette in my bedroom.) Nice job managing the different tasks you need the room to accommodate. Fun artwork over your desk.
Tell us more about the artwork above your desk. Who made it? It is really attention grabbing and a nice quiet punch to this wonderfully serene room.
i love this room. i feel calmer and more peaceful just looking at it
I love the artwork above your desk too! Awesome. Do you have any info about the artist or where to get some of their work? Thanks, and great apt!!
i love this! i used a similar strategy when decorating my bedroom. i have an exposed garment rack in there, and because i knew all my coats/scarves/etc. would clash with anything more colorful, i decided to keep the rest of the room neutral. great minds (although i do think this is better executed than mine:)!
The 3 dressers/tables placed all in a row is so unexpected and great.
Hippo planter. Yes.
This is amazing!! I'm saving these pictures in my inspiration file!
I love the chest of drawers with the jewelry solutions!
Thanks for the lovely comment Andy! I hope you're doing well!!
I made the artwork above my desk, it's a thrift store re-vamp, I blogged about it way back in 2009! (has it been that long!?) Thrift Art Saved
