Name: Amanda, Derrick, Ada + Roscoe the dog
Location: Central Falls, Rhode Island
Our loft is in a small town in Rhode Island called Central Falls. The town is one mile by one mile — hence the name of our building Mi Squared Lofts. My boyfriend and I have spent the past year remodelling in anticipation for our baby's arrival (she was born March 31)! We built Ada's "cabin" in the middle of our place. We bought reclaimed wood from a garage that had salvaged it from a local mill that was being torn down. We built the facade to feel like a cabin, but the inside had to be a little more girly — equipped with art from local Providence artists/friends, trippy wallpaper and homemade shelves.
The rest our living space is one large room divided into spaces: living room, kitchen (with concrete counters done by my boyfriend…his business), foyer (chalkboard & bike shot), our bedroom, and my office (I'm a freelance designer). Along with our daughter Ada and our dog, Roscoe, we present our home!
Thanks Amanda, Derrick & Ada!

Commercial Flour Sa...
I love the open shelving. You've gone about it in just the right way.
I'd love to see more photos of this space. Love it.
I call a HT on this one!
I love, love, love the rug in the nursery.
I'm really confused about that island. How exactly do you work on that?
Your loft is so fresh and young. Its such a great space. Please do a house tour!
house tour please.
you guys have a really solid vision and you've made it happen.
I'd love to see a full tour, too! I love the name Ada, and she's a lucky girl to have such creative parents.
I'm exceedingly jealous of your butcher block island - it's beautiful!
Is there a window in the nursery?
i would love to grow up there
love your place.....very artistic..wish i had a cabin when i was young...would like to see more artwork
Love the cabin idea! Makes a great contrast to the rest of your well lit and colorful space. Bless you for not going overboard with the cabin decor all over its walls.
I'd like to see a house tour too! This is a fantastic space. I could totally live here.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the sofa- that fabric is drop dead... the rest of the place is very cool too.
That cabin is so cute I am without words! How old is the butcher block?
floor envy
Beautiful home you have! Oh the sofa... AMAZING!
House tour, please!
WOW..... (Can you say House Tour!!)
I love the place, very homy, I too like the couch a lot.
But the first thought that came to mind was, I would put wheels on the butcher block, it's way too low now...
Cyb, wheels may not withstand so much weight. I imagine that butcherblock is pretty hefty.
Ada's room is DARLING.
House Tour!
leehou:
white people problem
It is all I can say about this comment
leehou....either you are an idiot or extremely jealous..you know nothing about those parents and your statement is uncalled for
so cool!
and i have the same couch!
yes, please show more pictures!
Cut. Love the shelving in the kitchen!
I imagine the parents have a good idea where they sourced the reclaimed wood and feel satisfied about its past. Nonetheless, infant health is not just a "white person's problem." Sure, you can call it a "first world problem" to say, complain of having too many consumer goods and not being able to organize them, but sheesh, not of keeping the little ones healthy.
where did the couch come from-- it's *gorgeous!*
also, just to add: house tour house tour house tour. please.
i think what leehou is getting at is that the reclaimed door probably has lead paint on it, and those boards may have been finished/treated with chemicals that have been banned for decades. i have a similar old door i'm thinking of repurposing and was wondering what i could do to coat it so that the old paint stays put and doesn't chip off. anyone out there with expertise? white people and their crazy building codes...
The sofa upholstered with Josef Frank fabric is outstanding. It sets the whole color tone for the space. Fantastic. Great taste.
Very nice.
I am sure that these lovely young people will discourage their child from chewing on the door.
came upon this randomly today, and was all "wow- thats the couch from the AT post!

Love the cabin idea, so cute. Gives Ada her own space and hopefully encourages her future creativity!
WOW...I have to say it takes an amazingly talented + creative family to come up with this CRAZY-WEIRD combination of colors, patterns, etc...but it all looks perfect!!!!! I am in love with this place. Can we please have a FULL HOUSE TOUR?!?!?!?!
I love little Ada's room. This is exactly the look I was going for in my daughter's room. I will file this one away for inspiration :-) THANKS a bunch for sharing
Amanda and Derrick,
What an amazing job! I thought there was a mistake when AT listed it as Central Falls. I live in the Bucket myself and am so impressed with how much life and sunshine you've brought into an otherwise depressing area. Props to you!
On another note, leehou doesn't have anything nice to say about anything! What a stick in the mud!
