We love the floor to ceiling windows, which let in a ton of light and offer a great view of downtown San Francisco. We also have TWO bathrooms, which was what sealed the deal on choosing this apartment.
Three of My Best Tips and Tricks for Creating a Successful Small Space::
1. You don't need to stick to the layout you see when you look at a space. We flipped the living area around from the way the previous tenant had it, and used smaller scale furniture, which created enough space for a home office.
2. Go vertical! Our bookshelves originally looked dinky against the 12 ft walls, so we purchased two rolling carts to set them on- and suddenly they became soaring 10ft towers that fit the scale of the space perfectly and offered extra storage for a bar and turntable.
3. Chose substance over style. I never imagined I'd live in a sterile modern loft, but we wanted to live close to the community radio station we founded. Luckily, I was able to see beyond the box and take advantage of all the openness to create multiple "rooms" to work and relax in, and I think we've managed to make it feel warm and cozy with paint and furnishings.
