I rarely have FOMO (fear of missing out) because, well, I love missing stuff. Nothing makes me happier than sneaking out of a bad party early or waiting until it's easy to get a reservation at the hottest, new restaurant, so I was thrilled to discover this trending acronym that perfectly describes my joy at skipping what some trend-setters would be heartbroken to miss.
The JOY of Missing Out (JOMO: because sometimes it's just so nice to just skip it).
It's not that I don't like to have fun, but some nights, when faced with a choice of a questionable outing or an evening in on the sofa, the sofa wins hands down.
It's more of a matter of making a conscious choice about how I desire to spend my time. Sometimes, it's out at parties or events, but when I decide to forgo what my friends are doing and choose quiet time at home, I always experience a profound sense of JOMO. Listening to myself and choosing what's right for me (rather than caving to pressure to join in the fun) feels great.
JOMO! Amiright? So good. Can you connect with this feeling?
