Acquisitions are a funny thing. They tend to bring tons of public speculation and keeps us consumers at the edges of our seats. Like Amazon's recent buy-out of touchscreen start-up company, Touchco, has us raising a few eyebrows at our Unplggd offices, begging the golden question, "Will the next Kindle get scrumptious touch-ability?"
According to the New York Times, this new technology will shave down on production costs for touchscreens found in devices like the iPad. Using their patented "resistive touch" technology, the new screen will detect touch by pressure and will support multitouch capabilities as well.
Personally, we are a little weary of pressing down on our pretty little screens, but Touchco claims the technology is transparent and will feel extremely natural to use. We don't know about you, but it sure sounds like the eBook year to us! Things are starting to get exciting...
