Name: Amelia (16 months)
Location: Somerville, MA
Color Inspiration: When I started thinking about the design of Amelia's room before she was born, I felt it should be bright and fun, and a bit feminine but not pink. The colors came together thanks to the serendipitous combination of the already sunny yellow walls in our newly rented apartment, my old yellow dresser from childhood, which we adapted into a changing table, and a selection of fabrics from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden line.
Color Inspiration continued: Amelia's Nana and great aunt had offered to help me make the linens for her nursery, and we sewed up a storm across three states to make the bed linens, crib bumpers, diaper holder, curtains and quilt. We re-upholstered a second-hand glider and ottoman in a matching light blue and painted it white, and added other decorative touches that corresponded with the fabric, including the mobile of painted eggs and the decoupaged letters on the wall. Wall art includes Etsy finds, a poster from a local theater and gifts from friends and family.
Tip for Using Color: Don't be afraid to use lots of different brightly colored prints together. If they all contain similar colors there is a good chance they will look great together!
Colors Used: Yellow, red, green, light blue, white.
Thanks for your colorful entry Amy and good luck!
