I wanted to have a vintage feel for Amelie's nursery — I didn't really aim for any specific theme. The space is feminine without being overly girly. I had to overcome an awkward layout and slanted ceilings — the room is long and narrow and has a sloped ceiling on the whole left side. I knew I couldn't put any furniture there such as the crib or the changing table, because we would bump our heads.
The changing table was a piece of furniture my husband and I found over a year ago in our neighbor's trash. My husband likes to refinish and sell old furniture, so we wheeled it over to our garage. After it was done I knew it would be a perfect changing table in a nursery. The only problem was I wasn't pregnant! So we've kept it in the spare room (now Amelie's nursery) ever since.
I used Etsy for the mobile, art, etc. My husband painted the awesome chevron stripes in the closet and also painted the one wall with the window and bookshelf a very pale blue. Her crib and bookshelf were purchased from Restoration Hardware, and her dresser and love seat are from IKEA. The bunny stool was purchased from a company called Untamed Perspective which I found through Instagram. Everything else I found by Googling any idea I had, for example the lace animal curtains. I guess that about sums it up! I had a lot of fun putting this together for our baby and can't wait till she's here to complete the room!
