The Americana design style is created through the collection of artifacts related to the history, geography, folklore and cultural heritage of America. It's a distinct look that can be as diverse as America itself. The basic elements of Americana design are nostalgic details combined with a slightly, or not so slightly, rustic feel. But, old European style could be described much in the same way, so what makes Americana distinct? Americana is often a haphazard collection of old objects and antique furniture thrust together without a uniform distribution of things or premeditated composition. It doesn't have to be messy, but it can't be overly calculated or contrived. Americana is like America. There is no right way to get the look. A reverence to history and an appreciation of America is all you need.
