One popular day trip we often hear about is a drive to a nearby Amish town. An Amish town day trip can be an escape to simpler ways, homemade foods, and open countryside. Here are just a few inspiring images from Amish towns (ironically, collected from around the web)...

An admirable group of people, and a beautiful lifestyle. So peaceful...
I grew up in an Amish town and the furniture is absolutely amazing. It will last for YEARS.
I live near a well-known "Amish town" but have never visited as I have been told by friends that it is mostly a tourist trap. Sort of like the Disney World of Amish life. I'm sure there are smaller communities I could visit, but I haven't looked into it much.
Arthur, Illinois is a peaceful little town in the center of an Amish Community, about 2 1/2 hours drive from Chicago, you also might want to visit Rockome Gardens.
