Over the years I've paid many a visit to military surplus stores. There's just something about the reuse of rough and rugged items in a clean modern interior that makes me giddy — and this ammunitions box turned wine bar is no different!

If you're not of the crafty type, you can pick up one of these bad boys for 300 clams from Uncommon Goods. That said, if you are the crafty type, picking up an empty box will usually run you less than $30 from your local military goods retailer (ours sells them for around $10!).

With the help from a hole saw drill bit you would easily be able to put holes in the top of the box and add a few pieces of wood inside to help hang glasses, or do without them all together and just fill it full of liquor. It would make for a fun DIY project before the holiday invitations start piling up, or give it as a gift to a friend — you can decide if it's with or without alcohol.
