Yesterday, when Grace blogged a good question about finding fabric for a Louis XV Revival Sofa, our first thought, like that of some of our readers, was Amy Butler Design fabrics...
We blogged about her before, and with good reason. Her unique patterns, which find their inspiration both in nature and in vintage textiles, are both sweet and intricate. Their fresh, casual exoticism seems to work equally well with both the clean lines of modern furniture and curvier antiques. And, we're perfecting our sewing skills just to be able to whip up some of her home projects, especially the gumdrop pillows Gregory's blogged about. We love that her fabrics are designed in clusters, which easily mix and match in one project or in a room. And, her patterns also appear on stationary; we'll likely use it for our own housewarming invitations.

I just purchased some pillows off eBay this weekend in that Nigella forest/wood fern fabric - Can't wait to receive them!
I just received 3 of her fabrics in the mail last week. They are great in person.
They carry this line - and several other designer lines - at fabric.com at really good prices. I LOVE that site!
I noticed the comments about using Amy Butler fabric as well yesterday... while I do LOVE AB's stuff and use it often for project (as well as just generally drool over it) I really don't think it would be the best for something that needs upholstery grade fabric. Am I wrong? It is definitely gorgeous but I dont think its going to hold up for the long haul.
Throw Pillows, yes. Couch, no.
