Name: Kari
Project:
Happy Bag

Kari doesn't need a diaper bag yet, but with a few small modifications she turned out a smart-looking bag for everyday use.

Explain how Amy Butler inspired this entry:
Amy Butler didn't just inspire this bag--it really is her creation. I LOVED the diaper bag in her new Little Stitches book but it was a little too big for me (not having a baby and all--i really didn't need a diaper bag) to use as my daily purse. Plus the fabric just makes me so happy to look at, it was inspirational all in itself!

How did you make your project and what items did you use?: I used her pattern from Little Stitches for one of the diaper bags but took it in about an inch on all sides, eliminated the side pannels, and sewed a box-bottom and basically, held my breath, crossed my fingers and hoped it worked. I miscalculated the lining so I had to come up with a ruffle-y binding for the straps to make up for it. The fabulous Amy Butler fabric is from jcaroline.com but I bought the last of it (really bummed that I can't afford a whole bolt of it nor could I find it anyway-everywhere is out!), the polka-dot fabric, zipper (inside pocket), magnetic clasp, and Peltex is from Jo-Ann's.
