Amy Helfand is an NYC-based artist who also makes absolutely beautiful rugs. We've been following her work for years and always enjoy checking in and chatting in person at ICFF. This year, one of the rugs shown at her booth had a bit of a twist...
She left the fringe on a single end of one of her designs long and flowing, and then hung it in her booth with the rug at a height that allowed the silken threads to pool on the floor beautifully, after flowing over a wall hung raw edge wooden shelf. This placement allowed the piece to interact with the other surfaces surrounding it in a new way and underscored the piece as wall art as well as floor textile in a beautiful, unusual, evolving way.
