Inspiration for my palette:
The red and white duvet started the inspiration. I love mixing of lighter blues with red. I planned to stay away from a "typical" pink or purple room for a little girl and wanted my daughter to have a room that felt happy. It's really a mix of brights with buttery yellow, robin's egg blue and red. I have a lot of more traditional furniture and mixing it with brighter colors gives an interesting contrast in style.

Tips for using color successfully
When I pick colors, especially paint colors, I always put them up against other colors to see how they look. For example, I have white trim, and sometimes even what may appear to be very light is still very bright and saturated next to my white trim. I find that a lot of paint colors are far too saturated to use in large amounts...when in doubt, go a shade or two grayer or dirtier...it will be a lot easier to live with!
