Here's an inspiring bedroom decor idea we spied over at Olivieri, the Italian furniture design brand. Ironically, the high end design site showcases a fairly affordable option for those of us looking to add a bit of flourish and fun in the bedroom…
Upon close inspection of the pillow headboard, it seems a thin frame with hooks hold each of the the pillows in place. What we like about this idea besides the novel use of decorative pillows instead of a typical hard or padded headboard is the flexibility to switch out pillows to refresh the overall aesthetic impression. So come spring, one could exchange darker hues with some lighter hued pillows; or one could go from modern and simple solids to decorative and ornate pattens.
Even more dramatic, solid pillows could be screen printed to form a unified or larger image (head out to somewhere like Fresh Pressed in Los Feliz to tackle this sort of DIY project). This concept may be the compromise solution for bedrooms with a plethora of decorative pillows that grace beds during the day, and could be hung up overhead while sleeping!

White Enamel Flatwa...
Uhhh yeah, I don't know about this one. I can see a single row behind a bench or maybe behind the bed but this is a little too much. And slightly sloppy.
Not loving this -
- rather too "IKEA showroom display" for me.
I think this is actually a really cool idea- would be great with lots of color in a kid's room. Not crazy about the execution in these shots though.... Also... probably a pain to clean or fluff...
Not a fan of how this looks.
I guess if you're really a fan of pillows on a wall, literally, it works, but there's no depth or trompe-l'oeil here... this is a definite miss for me.
i'm gonna vote no. the gaps are a problem. the rail frame is actually pretty obvious at a glance. i'm not sure this would even be okay in a store selling pillows.
Sometimes you have to consider seeing beyond the example, since one could change the amount of pillows, the size/shape, and the colour. Though admittedly, if you dislike the idea from the start, it's just not for you.
I like this! I think without the gaps it would be great.
love it.
hideous.
... I suppose the silver lining is that this could be more comfortable for certain activities.
Uhh, no.
i'm digging it IF the pillows don't sag & IF it's actually functional (i.e., i can sit up in bed, lean back against the 'headboard' & read).
If the cushions used are reasonably priced, say $20 per each, this treatment still comes up to $300 - plenty of budget to buy or make a decent headboard.
clever, but not there yet.....
looks weird. kinda sloppy.
Gotta agree, like the idea, but maybe not so much the execution. I think this could be fun around a daybed too.
