The talented interior designer Amber Lewis of Amber Interiors completed a client's work studio makeover in just one short week to gorgeous results. I love the textural ethnic aesthetic that Amber managed to create out of literally nothing. See the results after the jump…

Amber and her team camouflaged an unsightly wall full of painted paneling by hanging a warm ikat fabric overtop. This treatment also helped to soften the look of the other walls in the space, which are made of cinder block. They also added many layers of accessories in coral, white, and natural wood tones to complement the blue sofa (the only survivor from the space's previous life). The end result is unique due to the design team's preference for antiques to newly manufactured products, which is a huge shopping challenge when on a one-week timeline.

White Enamel Flatwa...
wow. huge change. congrats!
That space is awesome.
This is so inspiring! The earth tones all around the room work surprisingly well with that sofa; I never would have thought to put those colors together. I particularly love how the blue stripes on the little mid-century modern ottoman/footstool thingy in the foreground ties in with the sofa so well.
These are the kind of post I love to read. A talented Interior Designer using existing furniture and well thought out space planning on a real budget. Although I love high end design, I also like to see what a person can do with less. Cool space in one week. Wow!!
Gorgeous change.
source for that rug please?? :)
Saw this on her (amazing) blog. Love it to death.
LOVELY!
Man what a great transformation!!! It went from friends saying, "I don't wanna go over to her crappy place" to "Have you seen her place? It's awesome!" I LOVE the rug! Where is it from? Also that string chair looks a lot like one I saw at Ikea's outdoor section. It looks great indoors too!
Would have liked to have seen the sleeping area and kitchen; bath too, if big changes were made there. Looks nice.
This is great! I think my favorite aspect of this makeover is how the sofa looks so uncomfortable in the before, but looks super cozy in the after.
this is so gorgeous and inspiring! well done!
It's a work studio. So... wouldn't that mean that there is no sleeping area, kitchen, etc? A bathroom, yes, but not necessarily anything else. That's my understanding at least!
Anyway, the transformation is GREAT! I also like to see posts like these. :)
I emailed and got the rug source!

Hi Guys! Thanks for featuring this project..It is actually a lounge in a recording studio. Not a live in studio just to clarify.

What a transformation! Does not look like the same place at all.
absolutely love the room all styled up! The blue couch looks absolutely lovely here... it's making me think that maybe I should just keep my blue couches... and restyle the accessories...
i really love what you have done with the space, it is definitely a beautiful improvement... but i am wondering about the tapestry on the wall... is it really ikat? as someone who works in textiles for a career, i am skeptical that it is truly an ikat piece. a) that would be a seriously expensive piece b) the design would have more of a jagged appearance between the colors. it would not be as crisp.
can you please clarify? might be worth looking up what the true definition of ikat is and educating yourself on the process. it is really beautiful.
