It's no secret that I've been a fan of Ana White for some time now. There isn't a project on the planet she's afraid of trying her hand at and her simple instructions can empower even the most tool-shy folk. This time around she's whipped up an outdoor sofa that mimics retail design at a fraction of the price.

A sofa of this size would easily run you around, if not over, the thousand dollar mark. Ana's version is substantially less and even though it might require you to purchase a Kreg jig, we're pretty sure the added cost will be well worth it. Say goodbye to temporary lawn furniture and meet your new project!

Although this bench looks far more complicated than it really is, when broken down step by step it's something that can easily be built in a weekend. As usual Ana has supplied her readers with a cut list so you can walk right into your local hardware store with a list and they'll cut each piece of lumber to size for you (or you're welcome to do it yourself at home).

Watch for cushions to go on sale at your local retailers to complete the look or even keep an eye on auction/garage sale pieces that could have cushions salvaged from them instead. Scared to try it on your own? Invite friends over and make a construction party and empower everyone to lend a hand!
