Love the new magnet based Apple Smart Cover and all the features it offers owners of the iPad 2...BUT feel left out because you're an iPad 1 owner? No need to fret, Bret(te), you too can enjoy the Apple Smart Cover if you're inclined and willing to glue on 4 super powerful rare earth magnets to the spine of your older model iPad (not us). Watch the video above to see how.

its only a mater of time before somebody makes a gen one ipad case that is a clear case with magnets properly placed. you guys can have that idea for free.....run it.
I wonder if you could do the with an adhesive, magnetic strip? That way, you wouldn't have to super glue anything to the iPad.
I'd try the magnet sticky backs they sell for business cards. Thin enough it won't add bulk, only looks like a black stripe.
I would . . . not spend $40 on a piece of plastic. Wait for the knock offs to come. $40 . . . for a $.50 piece of plastic.
I love that this hack adds none of the best functionality of the smart cover. It's for all the people that bought the first ipad, can't afford the second ipad, want to look like they have the second ipad, but are too dumb to spend less money on a better cover for the original ipad.
