Luv the aqua sofa--and typically I don't like the button tufted sofa back--and those gorgeous pillow covers. Then there's perfect yellow walls, with a zebra striped chair and Persian rug, and the French door with transom light and tall window behind open shelves, et al. Ooh la la! Artistic, personal, and come hither all at once.
Question to AP Community:
Would velvet hold up to a (handsome) hound who enjoys scratching out a place to park his rump? Would LOVE to reupholster our sofa in some type of velvet, but want it to hold up as long as the last fabric held (~11 years).
Thanks for any advice, y'all! SO enjoy reading your comments.
Velvet WILL show wear... because it is a fabric with a "pile" that gets compressed over time. That said, MANY consider the wear patterns in velvet, especially a silk velvet, to be a beautiful sign of age and elegance.
A practical question: is the sofa configured so the cushions could be flipped with some regularity?
If you like the look of velvet, but want something a bit more hardwearing, you might consider mohair.
Love the color combo! Same as my bedroom's!
Thanks Patrick TOO. I fear both silk velvet and mohair are out of our price range, but I'll check our favorite upholstery store for remnants.
That was a risky color combination.. And they pulled it off perfectly! It looks refreshing.
I love this room! Lovely color combo :)
