Finally, a use for an arc lamp that doesn't include bodily harm when standing up from your couch.
I feel bad for the tall guy who has to sit on the bench... :P
I love the whole apartment. So cozy.
I bookmarked this photo a few years ago when it first appeared on AT. I LOVE THIS ROOM!
What about bodily harm when standing up from the bench?
Love the lamp and I wouldn't have a problem dodging it while getting up or down. It's the bench I have a problem with because honestly, benches are quite impractical unless the only people who dine with you are kids and skinny people under 40 who don't wear skinny jeans. Everyone else is going to be uncomfortable.
I have a bench. My kids sit there. They like it just fine. It's convenient when their friends stay for dinner because we can just squeeze another person on it. (Squeezing isn't really necessary. It seats 3 kids without too much trouble.) I've sat there before, and it's not bad, but I wouldn't want to do it every day. It sits between the table and a back wall of windows, so it's easier for them to get into than a chair, given limited space.
despise arch lamps, but that's just my personal taste and experience (knocked one over while helping a friend move things around her apartment-- they are so AWKWARD!

Is it just me or is the source of the arc lamp in the picture not listed??
Where is the arc lamp from?
I like the light brown chairs, the plant, and I like that the table is against the window. A bit of nature near the dining area gives a warm feel to it.
