Clothing or shoe collection out of control? Clotheshorses take note: If you don't have a large closet but you do have an attic, take a look at this space for a little inspiration:
It's an attic that's been converted into a posh (and very large) closet. Clothing hangs just fine along the low outer walls and a metallic ceiling lifts this leftover space into the realm of absolute indulgence.
Have you ever carved out a space in your home to renovate specifically for housing a collection? Was it an attic, a basement, or something else?

My brother did this for my sister-in-law. They even acquired store fixtures and display cases for jewelry. It's like walking into a high-end store.
Direct sunlight on your clothes doesn't seem like the best idea, but I suppose if you can afford this, you can afford to replace faded pieces.
genius
But what will I do with my Christmas tree!!!
Wow! The skylights make the room so light and beautiful! Beautiful!
You can put special UV coverings on the windows to protect against fading.
If Carrie Bradshaw saw this, she would wet herself!!!!!
What's that? Goldleafing? wallpaper? on the ceiling? Beautiful!
Manu_pty: So true lol! This is absolutely amazing.
Where is this image from?
I would totally do this too. I have an attic, but it's like a half attic in the wall of my bedroom. So you have to bend over and shuffle through it. Still, I plan to make it into my shoe closet (I have a lot of shoes), as well as to store some winter stuff/accessories/etc. With only one small closet for both my husband and me, we've gotta expand somewhere. I'm toying with the idea of adding a little decorative lighting, mirrors, and a pouf/bench so I can sit down and try on my shoes. It's my to-do project this winter, so this post is great inspiration!
I m in love with that place.... i m even smelling lilacs walking in ....
Is a dressing room distinguished from a walk-in closet by its bed?
I turned the nursery off my master bedroom in to a walk in closet. I LOVE it. The closet's closet holds shoes and pants. The rest of the room has closet rods, art, and a dresser. I adore it.
And there are special coatings for windows to help with the fading of clothing.
The operative word here being "help" with the fading of clothing. If you're not careful about rotating clothes on the rods, you're still going to have problems with fading, even with a protective UV treatment on the windows.
I would have put the rods on the non-skylit side of the room (or conversely, if they installed the skylights, the skylights on the opposite side). Or at the very least (now that the damage is done) install shades.
More details about the ceiling, please.
This is a great idea!
