An Easily Accessible Floor Outlet

An Easily Accessible Floor Outlet

With our recent home office redesign, we pretty much hid away all our outlets. On one hand that's a great thing, since visible wires and cables were the bane of our existence. But we realized we do occasionally need to plug in some accessories from an easily accessible location, so we decided to look for a floor corner solution...

We'd posted about the ezSpace UFO Surge Protector before on Unplggd, so we placed an order for one from our favourite home office/tech organizing solutions site, CableOrganizer.com (it's like the online organization version of Fry's).

The round, semi-sphere shape of the ezSpace UFO makes it easy to plug in variety of large and awkward shaped, grounded plugs that normally are a pain to accommodate with length-oriented outlets. The middle and vertically oriented cord makes it evident the unit is meant to be placed on a floor, just what we wanted, and surprisingly an unobtrusive aesthetic presence (at least when empty of attached peripherals).

This isn't a surge protector, so don't rely on the ezSpace UFO to protect your tech tools, but as we're only using it for occasional charging and easy access, it's perfectly suitable for the job. Available here for $34.99.
