On Saturday night, we were guests at a really bustling, interesting cocktail party, thrown in honor of two young artists at the home of some friends who had recently purchased work from the pair. It was a perfect "excuse" for a get together and got everyone talking and enjoying both the artwork and the company.

In addition to the pieces purchased by our hosts, the entire apartment was set up as a bit of a gallery, with work from the two artists hung throughout the space. It was definitely fun to walk through the different rooms of the apartment and see a range of work in all different sizes in a real home atmosphere. The artists were on hand for introductions and questions and the mingling was in full swing the whole time we were there, as new people arrived, grabbed a glass of wine and some hors d' oeuvres from the kitchen and took the art "tour".

This could be done a larger or smaller scale as suits your own space but it is an idea worth giving a go - it made for a fun, out of the ordinary evening to attend an at-home art gallery "opening".
