This contemporary home from the 1950s had great bones — terrazzo floors, solid wood beamed ceilings and walls of windows that overlooked its forest setting north of Seattle. When Finne Architects were asked to renovate it, they used the idea of "crafted modernism" to make the home even better.
A new open floor plan and clerestory windows brought even more natural light into the house. Terrazzo floors (with radiant heating) and beamed ceilings were added to new areas of the house and Finne Architects added a lot of custom cherry cabinetry with unique textural treatments in the home.

Sheex Bedding
Ooooh! This is the nicest house I have seen featured on AT. Absolutely devine. THe only thing I would live without is the glass with the "design". I understand it's for privacy but myself, I would prefer a sheer or a light-weight drape or something similar.
Could you adopt me, please?
That is too awesome.
I 'passed' on a place much like this a number of years ago, the neighborhood was not that great and I knew it needed more TLC than I was willing to give it at the time...Still kicking myself. Thanks for this post.
Beautiful. Really gorgeous. But honestly, I'd feel a little exposed with all those windows. Even though I love them.
So Yummy!
This is stunning - the choices in furniture and the detailing are really harmonious. I love the detailing on the bedroom sliding doors and the hanging lights in the kitchen. Can you tell us the designer and source for the gray living room chairs? So sleek.
I would also like to know the designer of the gray chairs please :)
The armchairs are Hans J. Wegner Wing Chairs produced by Carl Hansen & Son in Denmark. You can find them at Room & Board (among other places)
Ahhhhh....this home is visual masterbation!
Love this house!!!!!!!
Love this house!!! Amazing! Love the light, the windows, everything!! Bookmarking for future design inspiration.
That last picture I could never leave that room and bath tub.
The kitchen cabinets are too busy for this style house but hey I would take it anyway.
The chairs are distributed through Coalesse as well.
Truly a fantastic house. I love that the furniture is a mix of mid-century (look) and modern. I would love to own a pair of the H.W. Chairs. Reproductions/knock-offs of these classic chairs are available at White On White. On that site, they're considerably cheaper (by thousands of dollars) than the ones at Room and Board, but still out of my price range.
Sexy, Warm and Cozy.
I'd date the guy who lives here.
;-)
The tub room needs some privacy filter. It would be cool to have those windows that go from clear to frosted at the flip of a switch.
