A Mod Ikea Desk for the Geometry Buff

A Mod Ikea Desk for the Geometry Buff

Ok, ok. You caught us. We were procrastinating; opting to surf through the online Ikea catalog rather than work. We hope to get up to the Swedish megastore in a few weeks to help with some finishing touches in our home office and thought to make a list on SwedeShop to help stay on target once in the store. Of course we didn't stay on target once online and veered over to these cute desks, which we do not need!

The Micke is a $70 desk with a 41-inch workspace. The back of the tabletop has cable outlet to snake power cords through. The cabinet shown on the left (can be installed on the right) has a removable shelf within, which you can take out in order to slide in your computer desktop. An opening in the back panel keeps your computer from frying by providing some much needed ventilation.

We love all the various color combos offered, as well as the desk's petite frame. It's just large enough to accommodate all the necessities, but not big enough to entice you to unnecessarily sprawl out. Looks like a great option for those wanting to make room for a small home office or to class up a dorm room.
