My toes are aching for a sandy retreat like this. This stunningly simple Casas na Areia Hotel in Comporta, Portugal is in a region known for excellent local wines and fresh fish. And they include bikes! So wonderfully summery all around.
Architect Manuel Aires Mateus followed local custom and built the individual structures that make up the hotel with wood, reeds, white concrete and a thatched roof.
Looks like just the place to accomplish my personal life goal: never, ever wear shoes again.
