When you've outgrown your closet, it's usually best to seriously edit the contents before purchasing furniture to house extra stuff. Or you can think outside of the box like Elaine did and utilize an overlooked nook of space for an invisible wardrobe.
Taking advantage of her handy hubby, Elaine put him to work bringing her designs to life. A handled pocket door hides a beautifully created closet for storing clothes, shoes and luggage. Dressing up the space, Elaine collected a handful of dazzling wallpaper samples from local home decor stores. She used it to revamp the small dresser and rear wall in a quilt-like pattern that reads chic and feminine. Final touches of ornate gold mirrors adds just the right touch of vintage chic that balances the new addition.

Her closet is so beautiful I would want it showing! I love that whole room.
Yes. And if she wanted to go further, she could enclose the top portion and use the extra space for a shelf or high rod (which would require either a step-stool or reach-hook). And faux paint/wallpaper the bottom of the door to mimic the floorboard.
Now, where are the directions?
I'd like to know the source(s) for all the beautiful linens in this photo (curtains, bed linens, pillow cover).
**drool** How divine! The colors and patterns are simply wonderful. Great job. And ditto on those directions.
that rocks.
The whole bedroom is amazing, and that is truly neat, beautiful, and creative
I love how the clothes and shoes disappear between image 3 and 4. That is an even neater trick then the disappearing wall. Do you do that with mirrors?
This rocks! Very creative.
Jealous!
awesome!
Fantastic! What's the paint color and duvet/pillow case source?
The textiles look partially Indian. Maybe like the ones from an online source called Karmaliving.net? Although their products page on the website is currently down, you will find from their home page that their textiles are similar to these in this bedroom.
Wow! Wow! Wow!
I'm jealous (in a good way)!
Anyone know where those mirrors are from?
Oooooh, I love it!
Is that a custom paint or can I get that color?? It's sooo gorgeous!
Hello and thank you for all the lovey comments,
This post links to my blog post which links to a post on the sourcing of the paint colour , It's Farrow and Ball , Chinese blue.
The bedlinen I made myself, the pillow covers were made from a beautiful scarf/sari I bought in barcelona and the duvet cover is made from material I sourced in a fabric shop in Ireland, I've searched high and low for more of the same but without luck .
thanks again.
oops ! i forgot to mention, the gold mirrors are all flea markets finds that i've collected over the years and the gilded bed was another DIY project which is also linked to in the blog post .
and oops again, thank you Beth for featuring my work ,your surprise email this week was a lovely highlight .
Really cozy, bright and lovely, not to mention organized. I assume there's another closet - did your husband get the lions share of that one after you made this one?
