We were looking online for modern washing machines when we came upon this highly unusual blast from the past known as the Sanyo Ultrasonic Bath. Ultrasonic waves were incorporated into this perplexing contraption under the pretense that it would sonically remove dirt, with most of the machine's washing capabilities resigned to giving you a low tech, car wash-style rub-a-dub-dub. Silly, but in a wonderfully future forward way indicative of conceptual design back then. Check out some of the other futuristic pod living concepts from Sanyo from 1970 here.
