Name: Ana
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
As we are about to leave this rental loft we thought that a way of giving back to the Apartment Therapy website, which has always been our first (and many times, only) stop for inspiration, would be to share pictures of our Minneapolis home with the readers.
The house itself has great bones and is huge so the problems we had to deal with are a little different from the usual; they were mostly related with how to decorate large places (I even read the book "Big Home, Big Challenge" before embarking on the decoration! - it wasn't very helpful by the way...).
We had to divide a large open space into smaller zones making sure that the areas were coordinated with each other in terms of decoration. It was also a challenge to decorate such a large space with a limited budget and making sure that the furnishings made justice to the place.
Thanks, Ana!

What a great living space! I want to live in Minneapolis, too bad I can't take over after you leave!! :)
Gosh, this makes me love living in Minneapolis. I want to find a loft space so bad!
Allow me to clarify.. I want to find an *affordable* loft space. haha
Very nice! But heating such a large space must have $$$$$.
it's wonderful to finally see a minneapolis apartment featured on apartment therapy!!! I'd love to see more!
Gorgeous, wide-open space! I love it! Where is the leather sectional from? I've been looking for something similar that is durable and has that modern look. Thanks!
Beautiful place! I love the sitting area using the West Elm daybeds. The bedroom looks cozy, too.
That leather sectional is Kramfors from IKEA. We just got rid of our Kramfors after only three years of use. The leather was split and the springs were shot. And the leather is not covered under warranty. Buyer beware.
Another reason not to buy Ikea...
I just got a call from my job on Monday that I need to move to Minneapolis! I need to find a great place to live and have been struggling. Can I take this place?!
Indeed the sectional is Kramfors from IKEA. It has been holding up pretty well. We have had it for almost 4 years now.
David: As for heating...not that big of a bill since electricity in Minneapolis is pretty cheap... :)
eltuerto: I don't think so...the owners are selling it... :)
Love the huge windows that seem to light the entire space! Also love the red pillows to add warmth to an otherwise cool look. ESPECIALLY love all the people who love Minneapolis. :-)
Such a wonderful apartment. Thanks for sharing all the photos. I was wondering too if you could tell me where you got the skeleton key sculpture (I assume it's a sculpture) hanging on the wall.
Thanks.
Carla: Sure. I got it on sale at Pottery Barn. The key is made of metal. I don't think they have it right now but they have (much) smaller versions which you can find at http://www.potterybarn.com/products/vintage-keys-set-of-7/?pkey=cwall-art
Hope this helps!
Thanks! I'll check it out :)
I live in Minneapolis and I'm thrilled to finally see something from another apartment dweller. Where is this - what neighborhood? Husband and I love our current place but want to get our hands on a loft if not a townhouse.
Di: it's in the warehouse district. Lots of lofts around that area which is in the heart of the city.
Good luck with your loft hunt!
Another Minneapolitan here! Loving the love for our city and loving the loft too!
Oh, and nice postcard rack.
I want to paint a pattern similar to the west elm daybed's woodwork onto a table top...any suggestions to make this easier?
We have so many large industrial buildings in High Point, NC that are just sitting there waiting for individuals or developers to come turn them into jewels like this one.
Such a great space. I was actually the leasing agent on this the last time around. The first couple stepped 2 feet inside and said they'd take it. Was originally two units that the owner bought and converted into one nearly 3,000sqft home.
amazing space.
where in the warehouse district?
