Our use of color was no accident. We had both used color in our own spaces before moving in together and our new home was to have a least an accent wall in each room. The idea of the color blocking came to us after applying different ideas to a rendering we had made. We were a little skeptical of how'd it turn out at first, but are super excited with the final result.
Colors used in my room:
After moving in together, my girlfriend and I wanted to reinvent my apartment into something elegant, with a cool and contemporary feeling. We knew we wanted color. What we didn't know was exactly how much color we'd end up using! There are more than twenty paint colors throughout our apartment and the walls of our living room alone consist of purple, teal, grey, black, fuschia and white.
Tips for using color successfully:
Our best tip? Patience and faith are key. Adding color will increase your work load, especially when combining colors. Taping off corners, swapping out paint brushes and trays, and deciding what colors should sit next to each other, is a process. And it might not always feel right until a room has been completely put together.
