Materials: Wood, paint, horse hair, cotton, wool, goose down feathers, fabric
Pitch: The "Raven" chair combines my interest in fashion with my love of textiles and antique furniture. "Dressing" my chairs is a new concept I'm exploring this year and Raven is the first in the series. I look to Alexander McQueen, Schiaparelli, Prada and Project Runway for inspiration when translating fashion into furniture.
Raven is an antique barrel back chair that I primed and painted black to give it a sleeker, modern look. When upholstering I use old world techniques such as eight -way hand-tied coil springs, horse hair, cotton, wool and goose down feathers. These materials are earth friendly and that's the driving force behind all of my decisions for Wild Chairy. I NEVER use foam in any of my products, foam is pumped full of chemical flame retardants that are carcinogens , plus it sits in landfills for years and years before it decomposes.
Raven's been covered with a painterly designer fabric on the front and a black silk dress fabric on the back that has circles dangling from it creating a unique piece of functional art.
