Name: Andres & Adam
Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada -- Loft Conversion of old Irwin Toy Factory in Liberty Village
We fell in love with this loft in a converted century old Toy Factory about 1.5 years ago and were fortunate enough to purchase the property. We immediately fell for the tall ceiling height, exposed fir beam ceilings, and exposed industrial space and quickly set out to making it our dream home. We have been avid collectors of mid-century modern furniture, lighting, and accessories for the last 15 years and after years of renting, we felt that we finally found a proper stage for some of our most prized pieces.
We love the immediate warmth of our loft due to the dark oak floors and exposed industrial surfaces, the perfect foil for our modern furnishings. We love the contrast of the angular, minimal pieces (like the couches) and the feminine, curvaceous quality of our mid-century modern items.
The great room is a bright, light filled and open space and the biggest challenge was placing our pieces to distinguish its specific functions (kitchen, living, & dining). I think that we have done that quite effectively!
Although we believe that our loft is always a work in progress, we have now created a place that we always look forward to coming home to. We love every minute we spend in our new (old) home!
Thanks, Andres & Adam!

Hi there! Lovely space. Do tell me where you got that beautiful credenza? I have been in the market for one for a while now...
Beautiful! Are there photos of the rest of the house? :)
Looks like you have some neat stuff...but what is up with the photos? Two shots of the credenza? The corner of one sofa and an oddly lit floor-level shot of another? I'm sorry. Like I said, it looks like you have some nice pieces. I'll bet the photos don't do your place justice. Take some more - and don't forget the patio!
I think it's all beautiful, especially the mushroom lamps. I am DYING for the white one. Growing up in the early 70s, I once had TWO purple acrylic ones. Alas, they were sold by my parents in a garage sale long ago...now they're worth hundreds of dollars.
Hell if I know what the space is supposed to look like, but those are nice pieces/arrangements. Glad it's working for you, hope there can be a tour.
It looks like you've got a great space, but I have to agree with the comment above about photos. A shot of a calendar and a chair? What the heck?
AT should write a post about how to take photos of an apartment and refer people to it before they post photos of their place. At least we seem to be past the "taking photos at wacky angles to disguise an otherwise bland space" era. That was dreadful!
This is very nice but it looks like a show apartment. It's hard to believe anybody actually lives in it, let alone two people. Maybe the signs of life are in areas of the apartment not pictured?
Staging snaffu? or do you actually have two of the same calendar hung in different places?
Well, they aren't on the same month....
beautiful credenza! where did you purchase your yellow eames rocker? i've been hunting for a yellow one in toronto for a few months, to no avail!
Great pieces..wish we could see more of the Loft to get feel for the place! We could a general feel for the furnishings.
