After posting on Jose Vila's FedEx furniture last month, we got an email from Andrew Dusing in upstate New York, saying he'd been making furniture out of boxes for even longer! We said "great!" send us your pics, and he obliged.

Here's his story:

In 1999 I began building furniture out of card board boxes, to be specific Macintosh Computer boxes, originally living in a small 1 room apartment just out side of Fayetteville NY necessarily was the mother of all invention. I furnished my apartment out of one of a kind Mac. Box Furniture pieces.

Dusing has been featured in Ripley's Believe it or Not and in Wired News.

But, interestingly, since Dusing found that Apple Computer was far friendlier than FedEx, he incited no legal backlash and didn't get any hot press coverage either. But, says Andrew, "I'll never need to buy furniture again," he said. "Whenever a need arises, I know I can make it out of cardboard. I just wish I had more boxes."
